We left Chula Vista around 9 am because we had a long drive to Las Vegas today. As we headed up I-15, California's mountainous desert surrounded us.
We passed by this exit and wondered how do you pronounce the name of this road???
It seems like most of southern California is desert and very dry but has a beauty all its own.
I don't think you would want to be stuck here in the middle of the hot summer.
We passed the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System to the north of I-15. Put your sunglasses on!!
Just a few miles further, we entered Nevada (with a casino immediately past the state line).
Before too long, we could see Las Vegas in the distance.
We decided to stay a few miles outside of downtown Las Vegas at Duck Creek RV Park so we could use our 50% Passport America discount. The park basically is a parking lot (like most RV parks in Las Vegas). The worst part about the park were the very high curbs you had to drive over to get into and out of your sites. Other than the curbs, it was a nice place to stay for a couple of nights.
