Bakersfield & on down I-5

After leaving Kit Fox RV Park in Patterson, we headed further south on I-5 and then cut east a few miles to stay at Bakersfield RV Resort until Sunday. This was a nice park also with gravel sites, patios and grass in between the sites.

Although we hated not getting to see Yosemite because of the government shutdown, it was kind of nice just hanging out for a few days.

We walked and biked the park some.  We discovered that it if we walked up and down all the streets within the park, it was exactly one mile.  On Friday and Saturday, we walked 5 miles and biked 10 miles.  Phew!

While the weather was great with highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's, there was a dust advisory almost every day.  While you could not see the dust in the air right in front of you, it was very apparent as you looked out at the horizon.

The motorhome was nice and clean when we arrived; but by Sunday, there was a thin layer of dust all over the motorhome and the car which Chuck wiped off with his "California duster" right before we left.

We saw a few other people in the park using their "California dusters" to occasionally wipe the dust off their cars.  Now we know where they got the name from!
