We left Wilderness RV Park around 11:00 am and headed for Eustis where we were meeting up with Ken and Bonnie for another week together at Southern Palms RV Park. Since the campground was only about an hour away, Chuck and I drove separately -- something we rarely do unless we are familiar with the area and the drive is less than an hour.
We arrived at Southern Palms before Ken and Bonnie. When I checked us in, I wanted to make sure we were as close to Ken and Bonnie's site as possible. The first site they put us on was not long enough but the gentleman who led us out to our site contacted the office and was able to move us closer to Ken and Bonnie's site.
Ken and Bonnie arrived shortly after we were set up and they quickly got their motorhome set up too. The sites were just about perfect because we were across the street from each other but one site off so that our doors opened to the same side. Ken and Bonnie were on site #501...
...and we were across the street on site #567.
Because of it being a travel day, none of us had gotten our 10,000 steps in so we walked around the campground and back to the storage area to see if the owls were back. The nest looked empty but we thought we might have seen the horn-like ears of a great horned owl. Ken made his bird call sound and we're sure we saw something move. We knew we would have to come back another day to see for sure.
As we were walking through the campground, we walked by where we heard a lady playing a banjo. We stopped and talked with her for a few minutes. She said she played mountain or Appalachian music primarily and played us a song. It was beautiful. It was different than normal bluegrass banjo picking in that she strummed the frets more. She told us that several of the campers jam every afternoon at one of the campsites and we should stop by and check it out.
Later that evening we got together at their place for SkipBo and 5 Crowns. The men won tonight but we'll be back!
