Chuck's brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Pam, had been at Lake Okeechobee for the past week or so and stopped by Wilderness on Wednesday for a couple of nights on their way home.
We had made reservations for them here at Wilderness on site #35 but didn't even think about the homeowner restrictions here: they don't allow boats with trailers on the sites. Fortunately, there was a spot in the storage area at Wilderness for a couple of nights so they were able to store their boat there.
After Jerry and Pam got the camper set up, we drove them over toward Astor Park to the places we had found where Jerry and Chuck had fished about 30 years ago. We went to Half Moon Lake first and then drove over to Powell's Campground on the St. John's River.
Of course, this brought back old memories we all laughed about of their annual fishing trips years ago like the mosquito-topped hamburgers they had at Lake Okeechobee and the really bad sunburn they got fishing on the St. Johns River.
Later that evening, we hooked up with Donald and Anna and went to dinner at Steak 'n Shake and then we all came back to our camper to play some card games. We taught Jerry and Pam had to play SkipBo. We had three teams of Donald & Jerry, Anna & Chuck, and Pam & me. The cards definitely fell in our favor because Pam and I slaughtered the other two teams winning all 3 games we played. Then we taught Jerry and Pam how to play Golf (card game) and Jerry won that game. After a full day of laughter, memories, food and games, we called it a night around 12:30 in the morning!
It rained most of the day on Thursday. Chuck took Donald and Jerry to Tri-Am RV Center that morning and then we all went to Sonny's Barbecue for dinner in Silver Springs. Of all the Sonny's we have been to, the Sonny's in Silver Springs is definitely the busiest. The food was delicious like always.
After dinner, everyone came back over to our place for another evening of SkipBo and Golf. Chuck and Anna were the winners at SkipBo this time. And Pam surprised us all coming from behind and winning the Golf game on the last hole!
We quit playing a little earlier tonight because Pam and Jerry were leaving early tomorrow morning to drive all the way back to Smyrna. Wished you could have stayed longer! :)
