Ocala Gran Prix

You probably know by now that Gregorys love racing.  And what better place for those racin' Gregorys to go than to the go-kart track at the Ocala Gran Prix.

On Sunday after church, we drove over to the Ocala Gran Prix located close to I-75.  Ocala Gran Prix is not your typical go-kart track.  In fact, they host several karting events there every year.  If you have been following our blog all along, you may recall our going to one of their go-kart events two years ago (Race Weekend Part One).

Anna and I decided to just "spectate" and watch Donald and Chuck race around the track.  After arriving at the track, Speedy Don and Lucky Chucky had to be fitted with their racing gear:  a helmet and a neck brace.

The helmet I understand but a neck brace?  Just how fast do these rental karts go?  Are these go-karts or ultra-fast bumper karts?  :)

The racing wives (Anna and me) walked our racing husbands as far as we could to their karts...

...which was only to the back door and then we were instructed to walk all the way down to the last set of bleachers where we could watch "the race".  :)

The weather was perfect for a day at the track.

After attending the drivers' meeting, the racers were allowed on to the track.

Lucky Chucky raced hard to get to the front...

...and leaned hard into those curves.

Speedy Don quickly learned to maneuver this Fast and Furious track.  :)

Speedy and Lucky battled hard in the curves.

At times, the race was neck and neck. :)

After the race was over, Speedy Don and Lucky Chucky decided they had so much fun they wanted to race again.  I call it the Days of Funder.  :)

After the final race was over, Speedy Don and Lucky Chucky gave their post-race interviews...

...where they thanked their wives and their sponsors...Vicked Puffs...of which their wives have become addicted to.  Here they were caught once again inhaling their Vicked Puffs.  :)

Oh...the shame of it all.  :)

After a thrilling day of racing, Anna treated us to all to a winner dinner of home-cooked vegetables and meatloaf.  Mmmmm.  And after dinner, we decided to try to get another championship game of corn hole in.  Unfortunately, the game was delayed due to darkness.

We finished the evening with a few games of SkipBo and then called it a night.  :)
