Our week with Crystal, Grant and Avery had flown by and we were down to our last day. Grant had found a nearby trail so we all loaded up in their rental car and drove a short distance to hike to Zig Zag Falls.
It was kind of a cool day so we bundled Avery up in her
Newfoundland sweater.
"OK, MiMa, that's enough pictures of me in my
carseat!"
With our America the Beautiful pass, we were able to all go
hiking in Mt. Hood National Forest for free!
The trail was shaded the entire way...
...and was very cool because the trail ran beside the creek.
The trail was easy...
and we reached Zig Zag Falls after about 1/2 mile.
The falls made a nice backdrop for some family photos:
(By the way, this was Avery's 10 month birthday!)
After a few more moments of watching the waterfalls, we
turned around and headed back down the trail listening and watching the creek
as we walked.
At the end of the hike, we spotted this little spider
spinning her web in the trees...
...with the sun reflecting a prism of colors in her web.
We noticed this old bridge railing to the right of the
trailhead:
From the information sign at the trailhead, we realized that
this is where the road to Government Camp and Mt. Hood formerly ran.
After the hike, we went back to the motorhome and just
enjoyed our last day of being with Crystal, Grant and Avery.
