Glacier Bay Part 3: John Hopkins Glacier

As we headed out of Tarr Inlet, we saw another unnamed glacier off to the left.

We headed in to John Hopkins Inlet...

...and reached John Hopkins Glacier at the back of the inlet.

The John Hopkins Glacier is a mile wide, 12 miles and rises to a height of 250 feet (according to Wikipedia).

Another smaller ship...

...had brought in a group of people who got off at the bank to the right of the glacier and also some kayakers.

As the ranger pointed out, seeing the kayakers in the water in front of the glacier really gives perspective as to how very big these glaciers are.  Take a look at the picture of John Hopkins Glacier below:

Now look at these pictures of this same glacier with the kayakers in front of it.

After turning around in the back of John Hopkins Inlet, the ship headed back out of Glacier Bay.  :(

As we approached the entrance to Glacier Bay, the National Park Service boat came out to pick up their rangers again.

As we headed back out to sea, I got a picture of this whale.

Wow!  What a day!  What a incredible, unimaginable, beautiful day!  Thank you, Lord!
