Bike Ride to Bokeelia

Ernie and Noela drove down from Harbor Lakes to join us today for a bike ride on Pine Island up to Bokeelia.  We met in the center of Pine Island and parked our cars and then headed north on our bikes with our first stop being at a grove of star fruit trees.

One of the things we like so much about Pine Island is the bike trails that run almost the full length of the island.  The grove of palm trees had been trimmed back so we weren't having to duck under them like we have had to do in the past.

We stopped at the restrooms at the Bokeelia Boat Ramp and it took all of us to figure out that the hand dryer wasn't working.  :)

We further out to the Lazy Flamingo and found a place to have our picnic lunches near Four Winds Marina.

After we finished our picnic lunches, we rode further out to the north end of the island where Ernie and Noela couldn't wait to get their feet wet.  :)

Chuck found some shade under a nearby palm tree.  :)

By the time we got back to our cars, we had ridden about 18 miles on our bikes.  We were hot and ready for the pool back at the campground but Chuck and I first had to finish working on the rear a/c to try to find the source of the rattling noise.  He took off the inside cover and was able to look into the duct work and found a small piece of aluminum duct tape that was caught in the duct and rattling.  He took that out, put the cover back on and no more noise!  Yeah!!!

After cooling off in the pool, we all drove down to Low Key Tiki where we enjoyed a very good dinner of chicken skewers and fish tacos.

It was delicious!  As Chuck and I walked over to Ken and Bonnie's for our nightly card games, we saw a beautiful sunset.

Another perfect day on Pine Island!
