The Great Viking Feast

After all our day-tripping, we headed back to the motorhome to get ready to go to the Great Viking Feast.  We wanted to go a little early to maybe get one more look at some whales and icebergs at Fishing Point in St. Anthony.
Finally, we were able to see that iceberg Chuck had spotted from here the day before while I was at the library.

It was huge.  The iceberg was 5 - 10 miles out from the coast.

Just think how big it would look up close!

Back in the bay, the iceberg we had just seen on Sunday afternoon, had nearly broken off completely.

Even though we didn’t see any more whales, the view from Fishing Point was as beautiful as the 5 or 6 other time we had been out here in the last 2 days.

Finally, it was 7 pm and time to go in to the Great Viking Feast.

We sat with our friends we had met in North Sydney and again in St. Barbe.  They ended up parking next to and across from us at Triple Falls RV Park.  And we all sat together at the Great Viking Feast.
The waitress first brought out the appetizers:  some kind of salted fish (whole) and fried cod tougue.

“Ummmm.  Tasty cod tougue!”

Chuck tried the fish.

And so did I.  (The cod tougue was a lot better.)

Then we head Viking introduced himself and announced that he would be hearing “cases” after dinner and to let him know if anyone had any grievances against anyone.

This was one of the waiters…a very loud waiter.

The meal consisted of a buffet of salad, moose stew, salmon casserole, roast beef, and potatos and carrots.  The only problem was they didn’t give you a fork to eat with.  (I guess the Vikings didn’t have forks?)
At the end of the meal, they began to hear the cases, starting with one involving one of our new friends at the table.  :)

Here were people (from the audience) who presented three more cases that were heard.  Whenever someone was testifying, they had to stand on the rock.

It was all in good fun.  At the end of each case, the Viking head would ask the audience to vote guilty or not guilty and we responded by pounding our hands on the table.
As we walked outside from the Great Viking Feast (which we think should be called the “OK Viking Feast”), we were met with one last beautiful sunset over St. Anthony from Fishing Point:

A perfect end to a perfect day.
