Cape May Zoo

On Monday morning, we got together after breakfast to play a few rounds of golf.  Ladder Golf, that is.  We played out in the street so we would have plenty of room.

As with so many of the games that have been played this week, the women were playing well at Ladder Golf too.  :)

The men decided they better huddle up to try to get their game together.

Their huddle worked for 1 game.  They won one game out of 5.  After 5 games of ladder golf, we decided to give them a chance again at miniature golf.  We had a little spectator on the course...a snake!

It was just a little garter snake but he followed us around for the first 4 holes.  We kept shooing him off but he kept coming back.  He finally went on his way around the 5th hole.  And the women went on to win at miniature golf too.  :)

After lunch, we drove a few miles down to the Cape May Zoo.  Ken and Bonnie had been to it previously and said it was a nice little zoo and best of all:  IT'S FREE!

Ken spotted a bear as soon as we walked in.

We may have not found a live bear (yet), but he makes friends quickly with the stuffed ones!  :)

The zoo is located on 85 acres and has been in operation since 1978.  While it is a small zoo, it's amazing how many animals they do have.

Toucan Sam
Hey Mr. Peacock!  Show us your feathers!
Silver Fox -- his tail looks like a skunk!
Hey pretty boy!  Blue Macaw
White-tail deer (actually white all over).
This deer is not albino but has the leucism gene.
Very similar to albino but some color pigmentation like in their eyes.
Fastest animal on earth:  a cheetah.
Uncaged:  a squirrel with a mouthful of nuts.
Australian Black Swan -- no ugly ducklings here!
Looks like a baby deer but it is a full-grown Reeves' Muntjac deer.
The Hoppin' Wallabies!  This group gave the tourists a lesson
on the birds and the bees while we were there.  I think
there will be a lot more wallabies in a few months.

A HUGE tortoise!
Can you see the green python?
A big yellow python!  Glad he is in his cage!
Hey Ken, it's a real bear!
All this guy does is pace up and down the fence.
I think he's looking for a way out so he can wrestle Ken.  :)
A red panda.  Isn't he cute?
A couple of ostriches.
Beautiful zebras!
Two lemurs keeping their eyes on the zookeeper in the cage with them.
A snow leopard!  His tail is HUGE!
King of the Jungle!
Queen of the Jungle!  Their coats are so pretty right now.
"Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam!"
A llama and an alpaca -- not sure which is which!
These guineas walked right up to Chuck and Ken.
After our fun afternoon at the zoo, we went back to the campground and got together at Fred and Dolores' for more games and some delicious brownies from Dolores!  Yum!

Another great day at Sea Pines, NJ!
