Biking at Lake George

We were blessed with another beautiful sunny day today.  We had decided to ride bikes on a trail that Ken and Bonnie had biked when they were here a few years ago:  the Warren County Bikeway.  There was a re-enactment of the Battle of Lake George going on this weekend as well as a music festival at Lake George making parking a little more challenging but we found a parking lot a little further out of town and near the trail.

The temps were a little cool but we warmed up fast because the first half of the trail was an uphill climb.

As we neared Glen Lake, we could once again begin to see glimpses of the changes in the fall foliage.

The water is so clear.

Chuck was concerned about how he would do biking because his right thigh has been so sore from hiking on Friday but he did fine even with all the up and down hills.  We rode out about 5.5 miles but then decided to head back.  The trail was a little hillier than we had anticipated and we thought we had some fairly steep hills to climb on the way back.  Ken did ride out just a little further to see what the rest of the trail was like.

After eating a little snack, we began pumping up the hill back.  Once we got to the bridge, however, we practically coasted all the way back.

After loading the bikes back on the cars, we drove to a small nearby park and had a nice picnic lunch.  We have been so lucky to have had such beautiful weather!

After we got back to the campground, we rested a while, started getting ready for leaving tomorrow, and ate some dinner.  Ken and Bonnie came over to our place to play cards tonight.  Bonnie and I must have been awfully tired because we didn't win a single game!  Congratulations, guys!

We also kept an eye on the moon.  Tonight, there is a full lunar eclipse of the super moon.  This particular lunar eclipse is called a "blood moon."  We would step out periodically to see the progress of the lunar eclipse.

When the earth's shadow is covering the moon, you can understand why it's called a "blood moon" because of its red color.

Tomorrow, we leave Lake George and head to Vermont -- a place that none of us have ever been to.
