These herons were patiently waiting for a fish to swim by so they could eat some lunch!
We stopped on the bridge that crosses the Tomoka River...
...and enjoyed the scenery for a few moments.
We rode over to Donald & Anna's campsite to visit with them for a little while and then rode our bikes down a nice one mile paved trail that runs parallel (in a curvy way) to Old Dixie Highway.
We rode to the end of the trail...
...and then turned around and began our bike ride back home. By this time, there were some people fishing off the Tomoka River bridge.
Part of our bike ride took us through Ormond Lakes subdivision, an older development, with a lot of nice houses, walking trails, and little fishing lakes throughout.
Part of the first graded road built in Florida called Old King's Road extends through the Ormond Lakes Subdivision. It originated as an Indian trail connecting the Timucnan Indian villages, then the Spanish laid out the primary trail during their first occupation (1515-1763), then the British developed it into a working road (1763-1773). It was named for King George of England.
After 12.5 miles of bike riding, we arrived back home.
Sheila and Kip arrived at Tomoka later that afternoon and we all went back to Aunt Catfish's for another delicious dinner later that afternoon.
After dinner, we went back to Donald & Anna's and played some Nerts, 7-up and 3-team Skip-Bo. Another great day at Daytona.
