On Monday, February 27th, before we had left Flagler Beach, we had to decide where we were going next since we had to leave Gamble Rogers on Tuesday. I had already made reservations at Port St. Joe for March 18th-25th. But that still left us with where to go between now and then. The RV driving school at LazyDays wasn’t going to work out so there was really no need to go back to Tampa.
Although we didn’t really want to go back to the same place twice, we finally decided to go back to Wilderness RV resort for a couple of days because we were only 70 miles from there. It was such a nice RV resort and Chuck really didn’t get to enjoy it previously because of his toothache. We later found out that Howard and Linda Payne who hosted the RV-Dreams full-timing rally that we attended in Hershey, Pennsylvania, were staying there and were hoping to visit with them some.
We left Flagler Beach on Tuesday and drove over to
Wilderness RV Resort. Because Anna
didn’t have to be back at work until next week, they decided to follow us over
there and spend a few more nights camping in the same campground as us. J
We got site #87 this time.
(This is where our blog page picture was taken.) Not as nice a site as #91 but still a nice site with concrete pad. We got set up and went over to check on
Donald and Anna. We ran into Howard and
Linda on the way over to Donald & Anna’s campsite and invited them to go to
Sonny’s Barbecue with us that evening.
We had a nice dinner catching up on everywhere Howard and Linda had been
and what they were up to. After dinner, we went to Lowe’s for some supplies for the motorhome. Evidently, Chuck and Donald didn’t get enough racing at Daytona because they decided to help Lowe’s out by racing their drivable carts out of the parking lot and back up to the store. To recap the race:
Chuck started in the back….
And quickly (or rather slowly) pulled up to Donald and was able to pick up a little speed and save on fuel by drafting behind Donald’s cart…
The race was a photo finish. Can you tell who won?
On Tuesday, Chuck washed the motorhome while I worked
some. We had Howard & Linda and Donald & Anna over that evening
and grilled hamburgers. The hamburgers
may have gotten a little overcooked because I it was getting late and I
couldn’t see what I was cooking. But we
were apparently very delicious to the mosquitoes or noseeums because we just about got eaten up and had to go inside after dinner. Chuck and I continued asking questions of
Howard and Linda on things regarding full-timing and they graciously answered
all of our questions and were a big help to us.
We found out later they even posted us in their journal online at
www.RV-Dreams.com. (See end of February 29, 2012 entry at http://www.rv-dreams-journal.com/2012/02/index.html)
On Wednesday, we went over to Donald and Anna’s and played
another set of cornhole for which Anna and Chuck proved to be the champions
winning the best 2 out of 3 sets.
However, Donald and I proved to be the Skip-Bo champions winning at
least 5 out of 8 games overall. We won
so many I lost count! (Ha! Ha!) We played our last game of Nerts together
before they had to head back tomorrow.
On Thursday, we hugged Donald & Anna and told them
goodbye as they headed back to Nashville.
We then finally remembered to get gas in the car (we had 12 miles left
according to the odometer).
Later that morning, I helped Chuck wax the motorhome (mainly
holding the ladder while he waxed the high places). A lot of work but it sure looked better. We were
pretty beat and just ate dinner at home that night. On Friday, we went to the grocery store and were going to go explore Silver RiverState Park afterwards but we couldn’t find it. Later that afternoon, we walked down to river and found a nice walking trail that goes by the river and around part of the park. Guess who forgot her camera again? Sorry, no pictures of this pretty walking trail.
Our neighbors, Phil and Wendy from Michigan, in the site next to us invited us to a campfire and wienie roast on Sunday night in the campground. Our neighbors on the other site next to us were at the campfire, Harold and Marilyn from South Carolina and we also met Val and Randy from Indiana and Sandy and Rick from Massachusetts. The campfire was great, the wienies delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our new friends and neighbors.
