Celebrating a 50th!

If you have followed our blog, you have read about some of our adventures and fun times with Chuck's uncle and aunt:  Donald and Anna.  Well, today is their 50th wedding anniversary!

They must have gotten married when they were five and four years old because they look way too young to have been married 50 years!!!!!

Their daughters, Renee and Erica, had a "sort-of" surprise party to celebrate the event a couple of weeks ago that we were so blessed to attend.  The reason I say "sort-of" is because Donald and Anna knew that some type of party was happening but they didn't know where or who was going to be there until 30 minutes before the party began.

Erica and Renee -- the sneaky sisters who planned such a fun event!
The party had a "sock-hop" theme with some of the women coming dressed up in poodle skirts and some of the men in jeans, white t-shirts, and greased-back hair.

Anna and 3 of her nieces:  Darlene, Sheila and Karen.
Don't you love Sheila's poodle skirt?  :)
Donald & Anna with Erica & Matt, Graham & Aubrey.
How do you like Matt's and Graham's greased-back hair and
Matt's pack of crayons (not cigarettes) wrapped in his shirt sleeve?  :)
They served up delicious Steak-n-Shake hamburgers, homemade milk shakes and REAL Coca-Cola Cokes in a bottle.

And they had a back drop and props where we could make funny pictures.

The happy couple!
Another happy couple of 39 years!  :)

Renee and Erica had a couple of fun activities like having Donald & Anna play the Newlywed Game!  Erica asked them 5 questions separately and then when they were back together, they would have to answer what they thought the other one would answer.

They had to think a bit.
They both guessed 3 out of 5 with an occasional "Don-ald"
thrown in when Donald didn't get an answer correct
that Anna thought he should.  :)
The highlight of the evening was a performance of "Just One Look" by Rachel, Renee and Erica (with a surprise appearance by little Aubrey).  :)  Turn your volume up!  (If you have trouble opening the video, click HERE).

It was a wonderful evening and one we wouldn't have missed for the world!

Happy 50th Anniversary, Donald and Anna!  We love you!!!
