Weekend in Venice

On Saturday morning, we drove to downtown Venice for their annual arts festival.  The main street in Venice was closed down for 3 blocks and lined with booth after booth of very talented artisans.

The winds were gusting around 30 mph but all the booths were well-anchored.  We walked, stopped, and admired the work and crafts of the many talented artists and craftspeople.

When we reached the Upper Crust Bakery, we stopped and bought some more of those delicious scones.

The scones were delicious again.  What really makes them delicious is the Devonshire cream we got to spread on them.  Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

After finishing every last morsel of our scones, we began walking again and looking at more of the artworks and crafts.  Bonnie and I got separated from Chuck and Ken.  Look at where we found them:

These huge patio swings were amazing.  They had adjustable headrests and footrests and could even recline.  I think Ken was about to fall asleep.  :)  Bonnie and I tried them out too.

We had planned to go for a walk in a nearby park after leaving the arts festival but it was a little cool so we headed back to the campground.  Everyone needed to get some laundry done.  (Who has time for laundry when you're having so much fun!)  I also wanted to get caught up on my blog again.

We got back together after dinner Saturday evening and played SkipBo, Spades and Pinochle before calling it a night around 10:30.  Chuck stayed up after we got back to our camper and watched the UT vs. South Carolina game.  Our "don't give up" Vols came back from a 14 point deficit in the last 2 minutes and ended up beating South Carolina in overtime.  Woohoo!  GO VOLS!!!!!

After church on Sunday, we went back to the pickleball courts to play 7 or 8 games.  (I was having so much fun I lost count.)  We just can't seem to get enough pickleball.  I think it has become the favorite "outdoor" game for all of us.

When we decided we had played enough pickleball, I asked everyone if they could hear what I was hearing my stomach say:  SONNY'S!  We went to Sonny's Barbecue and had a delicious lunch.  I think Ken moaned as much (with pleasure) eating his barbecue sandwich as he did eating his scone on Saturday.  :)

Before going back to the campground, we drove to the Tervis Tumbler Outlet Store.  The Tervis factory is located here and there are a couple of outlet stores nearby.  We got a couple of beach tumblers...

...and Chuck got a tumbler for ice tea and I got a mug for my coffee for our favorite football team.

We played the "bully" of our current shuffleboard match.  We were tied 1 and 1 men against women from our 2 shuffleboard games on Friday.  The men won the "bully" today but not without Bonnie and I making them work for it.  We probably would have played a couple of more games but it was getting cooler and these tiny little black bugs kept trying to bite Chuck.  What's weird is the little bugs weren't bothering the rest of us.  I guess they wanted some nice tasty Chuck.  :)

Later that evening, we went over to play some card games over at Ken and Bonnie's.  Chuck's shoulder was hurting from playing pickleball and Nurse Bonnie got an ice pack for his shoulder.

While it may appear that Nurse Bonnie is trying to put a choke-hold on her patient, what she really was doing was trying keep the ice pack from slipping off his shoulder by tying it on with some green wire ribbon.

We played very close and fun games of Spades, Pinochle, and SkipBo.  The women won Spades and Pinochle and the men won SkipBo.  A-nother best day!    :)
