The RV service man arrived around 9:30 and after examining our unit, he thought the problem was the control board. He had a control board with him and swapped it out, but the a/c still made the same noise. He looked more closely at the capacitor and realized that it had burned out and that was the problem after all. He only charged us for the time and part to replace the capacitor and apologized for not looking more closely at the capacitor in the first place. Good news: our rear a/c is working again!
Chuck worked on his monthly maintenance tasks around the motorhome the rest of the morning. After lunch, we headed over to the pickleball courts with Ken and Bonnie. These courts are really nice.
After playing some very good matches for a couple of hours, we headed back to our campers with a stop at a fruit stand that just opened up for the season for some orange/vanilla twist ice cream. So refreshing -- especially after playing pickleball for 2 hours! We stopped and played a couple of games of shuffleboard on the way into the campground; and then after dinner, got together for cards at our camper.
On Tuesday, we got to the pickleball courts earlier and found they were all full. The park has the tennis courts marked off with the pickleball lines so we still were able to play -- we just had to run a little further to pick up the balls.
We got back to the campground around 11:30, packed our lunches and headed to another new beach: Manasota Beach.
The sand on Manasota Beach is like a combination of Caspersan Beach and Nokomis Beach: a gray, grainy sand with a lot of shells. Manasota has a lot of seagulls too.
Manasota Beach is where Ken and Bonnie have had the most success finding shark's teeth. Ken got his Florida snow shovel out and showed Chuck how to sift for shark's teeth in the water.
Chuck and I both started looking for shark's teeth along the water's edge.
We found a couple of shark's teeth but I was starving so Chuck and I went back to our beach chairs and ate our PB&J sandwiches. Then we both took a few minutes to check the back of our eyelids to see if there were any holes in them. :)
After our naps, Chuck went back to hunting for shark's teeth while I took a walk on the beach to the south.
This part of the beach backs up to some nice beach homes.
My goal was to walk as far as what I thought was a house that backed right up to the beach edge (behind me in the picture).
The "house" was actually The Pearl Beach Inn at Manasota Key. This beautiful Great Blue Heron was standing in the surf in front of the inn.
He was so pretty and I was able to get very close to him.
A couple saw me taking pictures of him and we all agreed how beautiful he was. They asked me if I wanted them to take my picture with him. Great Blue began walking down the beach so all three of us kept walking down the beach with him. They finally got this picture of me with Great Blue.
I walked about 1/4 mile past the inn and then turned around and headed back. Little sandpipers were looking for food in the surf...
...and in the shells. Their coloring blends with the seaweed on the beach.
I passed by Great Blue who had also begun heading north on the beach...
...and watched the occasional pelicans floating in the water as I walked back.
While I walked, I stopped occasionally to look for seaglass in the surf and piles of shells. Seaglass is another beach treasure that Ken and Bonnie introduced to us. Seaglass are pieces of glass that have been tumbled over the years in the surf. I found a green piece and a white piece of seaglass. Chuck was very successful in his shark's teeth hunt too.
We stayed at the beach until about 4:30 and then returned back to our campers to eat supper and play Pinochle, Skipbo and 5 Crowns. The men were the big winners tonight! Rrrrrrrr. :)
We had a wonderful day at Manasota Beach and discovered new treasures to look for at the beach. But you know what? I think the best treasures we find at the beach, or anywhere we are blessed to go, are the memories we create.
