Idaho...a place to chill out (not) for a week.

We arrived at Coeur d'Alene RV Resort in Post Falls, Idaho, around 2:30 in the afternoon.  The heat in Libby followed us to Post Falls and the weather forecast didn't look any cooler for the rest of the week.  I guess we will be "chilling" inside the RV.
With the heat, it was a good week to kind of do nothing and take it easy because Chuck had a chest muscle to the right of his sternum that had been hurting when he sneezed, coughed, yawned, took a deep breath, or moved a certain way since we were in Gillette.  We were fairly confident it was not lung or heart related because all the hiking we had done in Glacier did not affect him at all.  However, since it had not really gotten better and it had been a month since it first started bothering him, we decided he should go to a doctor to have it checked out.  Somehow (and we can't figure out how) he has strained the tissue between his ribs and this is the source of the pain.  The doctor told him it was inflamed tissue between the ribs and to take a heavy dose of ibuprofen for a few days and try to take it easy to give it a chance to heal so that is what we have tried to do.  Hopefully, this will get him healed up.
Hanging out gave me a chance to get caught up on the blog again and we enjoyed a little reading this week too.  I finally decided to buy a Kindle and so far I love it.  I check out e-books from the Nashville Library and read them on my Kindle.  Pretty cool!

Coeur d'Alene RV Resort is a nice resort with level sites, full hookups and adequate space between the RVs.  Our site #16 was at the end of a row so we had a big "front yard."  Unfortunately, it was so hot and the sun was on the door side of the motorhome just about all day so we didn't get to enjoy sitting outside much.  At least the humidity is very low...but it is still hot when you're in the sun.

Wal-mart was very close to the campground so we got stocked up on groceries again.  It is so much easier (and usually cheaper) for us to do our grocery shopping at Wal-mart.  It's become our "local grocery store" wherever we go.

We drove into the city of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Wednesday.  Coeur d'Alene is a mid-size town...

that sits along Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The water of Lake Coeur d'Alene is very clear...

...but not as blue as Flathead Lake or the lakes at Glacier NP...

On Thursday, we drove to Riverfront Park in Spokane which held the World's Fair in 1974.

From the park's bridges, we could see Spokane River Falls.

The Upper Falls Power Plant was constructed in 1920 to provide hydro-electric power to the area and is still in operation.

The Looff Carousel at Riverfront Park has been in operation since 1909.

The children enjoyed cooling off in the water fountains at the park the most.

After walking around the park, we went to the IMAX theater to watch "Great White Shark."  It was o.k. but some parts of the movie we had seen on some of the nature shows on Animal Planet or Discovery Channel so that was a little disappointing.

We did learn from the show that if you are swimming in the ocean and encounter a great white shark, you are suppose to look him in the eye and continue to make eye contact with him which is the complete opposite of what you do if you encounter a bear in the woods.  If you encounter a bear, you are supposed to not make eye contact because the bear considers it a sign of aggression.  Hope we keep these straight:  don't stare at a bear, but keep your eye on the great white.

We started looking ahead to where we would go between now and when we met up with Crystal and Grant in Randle, Washington.  A man we talked to at church in Columbia Falls told us that the Cascades were beautiful and that he liked it better than Glacier.  That doesn't seem possible.  We thought Glacier was the most beautiful place we had been.

After "chilling out" in 90+ degree weather for a week, we mainly wanted to escape the heat and it looked like we would have to get closer to the Pacific Coast or go up in the mountains to find cooler weather.  So we decided that we would go to North Cascades National Park next.
