We left Natural Bridge Friday morning and decided to spend a
few days in the mountains of east Tennessee before heading back home.
We didn’t want to get entangled with all the traffic and
tourists in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (which would be even worse over a
weekend) but we did want to enjoy the mountains. If we stopped in Townsend, we would have to
drive an hour or so further plus we would get tied up in all the traffic. Since Cosby is in the mountains, not too far
off the interstate, and away from all the traffic, we decided to stop there and
stay at the Jellystone campground which had good reviews. Plus, we had accumulated one free night with
our Yogi rewards. Sweet!
The campground is a little tight for big rigs but Chuck
maneuvered the motorhome without any problems.
Like a lot of campgrounds, this campground likes to guide you to your
site and help you get parked which is nice of them to do; but we find we do a
whole lot better if they just let us get into our site by ourselves. After the guide had gotten Chuck parked into
our site and left, we still had to pull forward and over some to get away from
the trees and get level.
Although the sites were close together, we liked it because
it backed up to a stream.
We enjoyed sitting around a campfire a couple of nights…
…something we had not done since back in May when we stayed
at the Thousand Trails campground in Lynchburg.
