Resting in Reston

Before we began full-timing, one of items we were a little concerned about was how we would handle being away from family for extended periods of time.  We believed that while it might be difficult being away from my mom and extended family in Nashville, the full-timing lifestyle would allow us to spend more time with our daughters and their families who live in Reston, VA, and Decatur, GA.

One of the questions I had asked Howard and Linda Payne at their full-timing RV-Dreams rally last fall was how they dealt with being away from family.  Linda told me that one of the good things about full-timing is that while you may not see your family as much, when you do see them you are REALLY with them because you don't have all the day-to-day stuff going on to distract you.  She said you can really focus on and "enjoy the moments" with your family.

Another big advantage to living in your RV is that when you do visit family and friends, you take your home with you so you get the best of both worlds:  visiting with your family and friends wherever they live and yet still being able to go back to your own home every night.

We spent every day or at least part of every day of our two weeks in Reston with Tafanie, Cory and Isabella while we were in Reston.  It was so awesome!  We got to talk and visit with Tafanie and Cory, play with Isabella, and just enjoy their day-to-day life with them.  We went to Isabella's "making music" class:

MiMa and Pa babysitted a few times:

And of course we had to go out for ice cream at least once while we there:

"Mmmmm" says Isabella....

"I like strawberry gelato!"

We REALLY enjoyed all the moments of our two weeks with Tafanie, Cory and Isabella.
