Busy Beautiful Burlington

We had decided to go to the Burlington Farmers Market on Saturday.  It was a cool but clear fall morning.

We had to park a few blocks away but when we arrived at City Hall Park, the Burlington Farmers Market was full of vendors and customers.  There were a lot of organic vegetable stands...

but there was also a lot of breads and baked goods for sale.

There was a little bit of everything at the Burlington Farmers' Market.

Several of the booths had samples of cheeses, hot sauces and jams and other goodies that we tried.  Shelburne Orchards was selling their huge apples.

And one vendor was even selling edible mushrooms that you could grow out of a bucket.

I bought a couple of tomatoes and a jar of sweet zucchini relish.  We left the Farmers' Market and walked up Church Street which is no longer a street but more like an open air market.

We saw this most unusual looking dog.

A dog with dreadlocks!
How can he see where he's going????
After walking around Church Street, we walked back to the car and drove to the Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory.

Since it was Saturday, there were no tours today.  :(

But there were chocolate taste testings!  :)

We smelled, tasted and savored four different chocolates and tried to guess which each kind was.

Ken and Bonnie guessed theirs correctly!  I missed the taste descriptions of the white and milk chocolates.  I guess I'm not the chocolate connoisseur I thought I was. :)

After we left the Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory, we went to the Magic Hat Brewing Company that was having their Octoberfeast benefitting the Vermont Food Bank.  They had factory tours as well as tastings and several food vendors that were offered samples of everything from pasta to bagels.  They also had hot dogs for $1.00!  Guess what we had for lunch?  Samples and hot dogs!  :)

Before heading home, we went to Wal-Mart and Costco to pick up some groceries before heading home.  I think everyone in Burlington was either in Wal-Mart or Costco because they were both very crowded.

We called it an evening because I needed to get caught up on our blog and Chuck had about a half dozen college football games to watch that he had recorded.  :)   Tomorrow, we're looking forward to biking the Burlington Trail with Ken and Bonnie along beautiful Lake Champlain.
