We took our time leaving on Friday morning because we were moving
to Quartzsite, Arizona, which was less than 2 hours away. There were several campgrounds to choose from
and we could have boondocked up to 14 days for free (like many RVers do) on
Bureau of Land Management land surrounding Quartzsite but we decided to stay at
Black Rock RV Village just east of Quartzsite instead.
We were given this huge pull-through site.
The snowbirds have not yet begun arriving in Quartzsite yet
so the campgrounds and the BLM lands had plenty of spaces. After getting information about BLM camping,
we drove out to one of the areas where boondocking is permitted and found there
were several campers scattered throughout the area.
The town of Quartzsite is pretty dead right now and it is
not that big in the first place. We did
find a restaurant called Silly Al's and had some delicious pizza for lupper
(and enough to take home for tomorrow night).
At dusk, we went for a walk around the campground at Black
Rock RV Village and found out it is a very big campground: 403 sites and all of them are much bigger
than what we normally see in a private campground. I don't know how far we walked but it seemed
like at least a mile!
