Heading back east

We have decided to drive back to Nashville and Atlanta for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to spend some time with family.  So...we officially began heading east today.

We got away from Black Rock RV Park in Brenda AZ around 8:30 or so.  The weather was very nice and it was a little windy.  I was a little concerned about how bad the winds would be in with direction we would be traveling because this past week there was a horrible pileup on I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson in the Casa Grande area and 3 people were killed and several others injured.  The cause of the wreck was due to blowing dust and people not being able to see.  We know of pileups like this that have occurred in Tennessee due to very thick fog but this wreck was due to a cloud of dust.

Fortunately, we had no problems at all.  Since it was Sunday, we didn't run into any traffic tie-ups going through Phoenix.

We stopped at Flying J's in Eloy, Arizona, to fill up with diesel and were treated to the lowest diesel price we have paid since February of 2011:  $3.699 per gallon.  Woohoo!

The beautiful mountains of Arizona were all around us as we drove to Tucson.

We crossed through several areas with signs warning that it was a Blowing Dust Area that looked like this:

We continued through Tucson on I-10...

and then turned south on I-19 and then on to Ajo Highway.  I had found an RV park that was a little away from town but was very highly rated particularly because it was more out in the desert.  We arrived at Justin's Diamond J RV Park about 12:30.  It is a Passport America Park so our rate was  $16 per night for full hookups.  Woohoo again!

Out in the desert again with the Tucson Mountain Park behind us....

...and a cactus, some more mountains and desert, and Mexico to the south of us.

After getting set up, we went into Tucson to Camping World and Wal-Mart in Tucson.  We were just about out of everything and were finally near a Wal-Mart to get stocked up on groceries.  We also had to get a new sewer hose at Camping World because our hose had decided to spring a leak and a sewer hose is definitely NOT something you want leaking.

After getting all our errands run, we headed back home and just "chilled out" in the desert the rest of the evening. :)
