Snowball Derby 2015

On the Monday after Thanksgiving, we left Nashville and headed for Pensacola, Florida, where we would be joined by Donald & Anna and Jerry & Pam later in the week.  We left around 8 am and had planned on going as far as Chuck felt like driving which ended up being all the way to Pensacola RV Park.  While we drove through some rain in northern Alabama, the rest of the drive was good and the weather just kept getting nicer the closer we got to Florida.

Donald and Anna arrived on Wednesday evening and we headed for the Shrimp Basket as soon as they got their camper set up.  We played 5 Crowns on Wednesday evening with Chuck winning that game.  Chuck and Donald went to Five Flags Speedway to watch some of the cars practicing on Thursday afternoon after we had played a couple of games of cornhole which Anna and Chuck won.  Jerry and Pam were delayed a day in getting to Pensacola because Jerry had to have a tooth pulled on Wednesday.  Fortunately, he was feeling better on Thurrsday and they arrived on Thursday afternoon just in time for us to make another trip to the Shrimp Basket for an early dinner.  Chuck and Donald went back to the track Thursday night but got home in time to play SkipBo.  Anna and Chuck thought they were going to win SkipBo too but Donald and I came back and whooped 'em good!  :)

On Friday, we all played a few games of cornhole but Anna and Chuck proved to be just to hard to beat!  For a change, we went to Sonny's Barbecue for dinner and then the guys when back to the races Friday night.

I got a lot of my Christmas shopping done online while the guys went to the race track on Saturday afternoon to watch some of the qualifying.  We made another trip to the Shrimp Basket Saturday evening and the guys went back to the Snowflake race on Saturday night.

After church on Sunday, the guys went to the final race of the weekend:  the Snowball Derby.

Where's Jerry?
There he is!
The drivers just keep getting younger and younger.
This kid just turned 14 and was racing in the Snowball Derby.

The final race of the weekend ended with Chase Elliott emerging the winner after the first person to cross the finish line, Christopher Bell, got disqualified during technical inspections after the race.  That's racing!

The guys met us at Vallarta Mexican restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious dinner together.  When we returned to the campground, everyone came to our camper and we played a game of 5 Crowns with Chuck and Jerry coming in 1st and 2nd and then SkipBo with Chuck and Jerry winning that game too!

On Monday morning, everyone began getting ready to leave and saying our good-byes.  Another fun Snowball Derby week is officially in the books!  Looking forward to next year!
