We said good-bye to Devils Tower...
...and headed on towards Buffalo, Wyoming. It was a pleasant drive. The GPS took us down a different way back to
I-90. We were a little concerned not
knowing what grades we might encounter; but it was an easy and very scenic
drive...
with lots of cattle
ranches...
...and some sheep ranches.
We also drove by Keyhole Reservoir.
After reaching I-90, we again traveled west. Before reaching Gillette, we began noticing
these long lines of railroad cars full of coal...
...which led up to the Wyodak Power Plant near Gillette,
WY. (It looked like we would run right
into it.)
After a little while, we began to see the Big Horn Mountain
Range out in the distance.
As we got closer to the campground in Buffalo, we realized that
there was snow on top of the Big Horn Mountains.
There were also deer at Deer Park Campground to welcome us.
We began setting up like always and the satellite would not
work. At first it said "AZ Motor
Runaway" and then it said "AZ Motor Stalled." We had experienced a similar problem when we
were trying to leave Newton, Iowa, and had to wait about 3 hours for Winegard
to call us back but it started working again when they called me back and I
turned the system on. Kind of like when
you take your car into the repair shop and that noise it has been making all of
the sudden stops making the noise at the car repair shop.
Anyways, Winegard called me back in about 3 hours and walked
me through several different diagnostics.
This time, however, nothing would work, so they said they would have to
send us out a new unit. So, we will
be staying here for another week waiting for our replacement satellite dish to come
in. The good thing there is a lot of
pretty country to see while we are here.
The campground is very nice with full hookups the sites are
long and level. You can tell it is
typically an "over-nighter" campground in that we have new neighbors
every day.
Three things we like about the campground are:
a pretty nature trail...
lots of deer...
and the "ice cream social" they have every evening
where you can get 2 scoops of chocolate or vanilla ice cream for $1.25. You just bring your own bowl and spoon.
I don't think we are going to mind "waiting in
Buffalo" very much at all.
