A secluded surprise: Gunter Hill

We had to start heading back for Nashville because we both had doctors and dentist appointments coming up the next week; but we didn’t want to drive it all in one day.  I found a Corp of Engineers campground not too far off the interstate called Gunter Hill in Prattsville, AL (just west of Montgomery).
I had called ahead and asked if they had a site available that would accommodate our RV and the campground office recommended site #102.  We drove some back roads to get there and got checked in and drove into site #102, a secluded surprise right on the water:

The campground was empty except for 5 or 6 campers.  Our site did not have sewer but it was fine for a couple of days, particularly for the awesome site we had.

We got all set up...

and just sat back and relaxed.

We rode our bikes around the park a few times.  And watched the birds...

and the coots flying in and out of the cove...

and even a butterfly.

We would have stayed here another couple of days but there were some bad storms that were headed our way and we decided to leave ahead of the storms and head on back to Nashville.
