On to San Antonio and 2017

We got away from Stone Mountain on Tuesday morning (Dec 27) a little after 6:30 am and had virtually no traffic issues.  We saw two or three major traffic tie-ups in the oncoming lanes but we were lucky to have no problems at all.

Chuck:  the Driving Machine
Crossing the long Atchafalaya Bridge again.
We drove 600+ miles and stayed at Frog City RV Park again in Duson, Louisiana.  We got there about an hour before sunset and were even able to sit outside and relax before going inside to open the Gregory Hair Salon.  :)

On Wednesday, we drove the rest of the way to Travelers World RV Resort in San Antonio and were backed into our site around 1:30.  I helped Chuck get the motorhome rinsed off and dried and then we went to Wal-Mart and H-E-B for groceries.  On Thursday, Chuck worked on replacing a defective part on our new toilet.

Hmmm...I always wondered what the toilet
would look like in the middle of the bathroom.  :)
Already putting that new headlamp to
good use.
On Saturday, we went to the New Year's Eve party and had a lot of fun like we always do.  And then on Sunday, we set up the EZ-Up (patio awning) at the back of our site.

We ate our black-eyed peas on New Year's Day for good luck.  :)

I wanted lights to put around the EZ-Up and we found some white Christmas lights on sale at Wal-mart.  Two boxes for $2.  And look how pretty they look!

We grilled pork steaks for dinner on the day after New Years not for good luck but just because they're good.  :)  The weather was so nice, we had dinner outside.

I found out that Dave and BettyAnn who live across the street from us have an organized bike rides every Tuesday.  On Tuesday, Chuck and I and about 10 others rode their bikes south on the Riverwalk.

We stopped every couple of miles to see how everyone was doing.  We stopped at these cool metal art along the trail called "Whispers."

There were some beautiful wildflowers along the trail too.  Wildflowers in the winter!  Awesome!

We rode as far south as the Mission San Juan...

...and then began heading back north.

Overall, we rode about 10 miles.  We have not ridden our bikes in a long time and I wondered how we would do.  Good news was we did great!  Not too tired and my back did great.  Chuck's knee was a little sore but his foot was o.k.

Chuck had fun playing in the weekly golf scramble on Wednesday and then on Thursday, we went for our first golf lessons under the Republic Golf Course's "Play Better Golf" program.  Our instructor, J.J., is basically starting with the basics with us:  gripping the golf club.  And I think we both feel like it helped.  Now, if we can just remember it!  :)
