Back to the Rainy Snowball Derby

I forgot to mention in my last post that while our family was all together in Nashville over Thanksgiving, Chuck, Crystal and Grant went to the last UT Vols football game of the season against the Vanderbilt Commodores.  They met Scott, Mandy and Jack (all UT fans) and Donald & Anna and Karen & Kevin (all Vanderbilt fans) at Rotier's for a tailgate dinner before the game.  The Volunteer fans had high hopes for winning their last game of the year and maybe getting to go to the Sugar Bowl.

While they were at the game, Avery, Hannah and I had fun playing Uno and dominos and coloring and watching videos on MiMa's iPhone at GiGi's condo.

Unfortunately, the Vols didn't play a very good game and the Commodores beat the Vols 45 to 34.  Congratulations Vanderbilt Commodores!   Hmmm....maybe that's why I forgot to mention this in my last post.  :)

On Monday morning (November 28th), we hooked up the Honda to the motorhome and headed south for Pensacola, Florida.  The winds were very strong and blowing straight in to us but Chuck managed just fine.  We arrived at Pensacola RV Park mid afternoon and got set up quickly.  Jerry and Pam were already there but Donald and Anna did not get there until Wednesday evening.

It was a very fun week as it always is when we are all together.  We went out to eat every night getting our fill of Shrimp Basket, Sonny's Bar-b-cue, and Petrella's Pizza.

We only played cornhole one afternoon but we played cards every night the guys weren't at the races.

On Sunday, Donald, Anna, Chuck and I went to a new Mexican restaurant called El Paso's after church that morning.  While we were on our way to the restaurant, Jerry and Pam called us and told us it was raining so hard at the campground that the sites were a solid sheet of water.

That's one of our leveling blocks that floated
over to Jerry and Pam's site.

This is looking out the front of Jerry & Pam's RV.
And, while we were at El Paso's the bottom fell out there too.  We enjoyed a delicious lunch and waited until the rain slacked off before heading back to the campground.  With all the rain, the Snowball race got postponed from 2 pm until 5 pm.  Unfortunately, it started raining again and the race got postponed until Monday at 5 pm.

The rain continued off and on all day Monday so the race was postponed again until Tuesday at 5 pm.  Jerry and Pam had to head back on Tuesday morning so they missed the race.  After 4 inches of rain since Sunday, the skies finally cleared.  Donald and Chuck went to the Snowball race Tuesday evening and said it was a good race with a full field of cars.

We said our good-byes to Donald and Anna early Wednesday morning and then headed south to Wildwood, Florida.  We decided to go ahead and get the oil changed and annual engine maintenance work done on the motorhome at Alliance Coach.  It's so much easier getting the work done when you can stay in your RV at the same facility over night.  Alliance got the work completed on Thursday and then we headed out on Saturday.

Chuck and I had been fighting colds or some kind of upper respiratory infection for well over a week and it seemed we only got worse while we were in Wildwood.  On Saturday, we decided to drive on to Stone Mountain even though we weren't supposed to get here until Tuesday.  We thought we would give ourselves a few days to rest and get well before spending time with all those precious granddaughters over the next couple of weeks.
