Hanging Out in Good Ol' Tennessee

We drove to Nashville on Monday morning (June 6th), we left Manchester and were at Cullum & Maxey in Nashville by 9:30 am.  We left the motorhome with them to get the slide-out awning replaced and then headed over to the best laundromat in the world:  my mom's!  We had barely gotten one load washed and dried when Cullum & Maxey called us to say our camper was ready.  Talk about fast!

After picking up the camper, we drove to the KOA near Lebanon, Tennessee.  The campground we normally stay out in Nashville were full because of the Country Music Festival that was going on that week.  We wouldn't have stayed there anyways because both the KOA and Jellystone in Nashville were charging nearly $90 a night!  Ridiculous!!

Mama fixed us a delicious home-cooked dinner Monday night and then we went to dinner with Donald and Anna Tuesday night.  We had a couple of doctor's appointments while we were in town and got a couple of games of pickleball in too.

On Friday (June 10th), we drove to Crossville, Tennessee, where we were meeting up with Warren & Joslyn for a few days at Spring Lake RV Park.  We had sites right next to each other...

...and with all the good shade, we enjoyed sitting outside and talking and laughing a lot.

We fixed some delicious dinners together and on Sunday, we took Warren and Joslyn over to see Fall Creek Falls which is about an hour away.  As usual, the park was not letting a lot of water over the falls so the tallest waterfalls west of the Mississippi River was down to just a trickle.

But it was a perfect day to see Fall Creek Falls...

...and, best of all, to enjoy some Fall Creek Falls ice cream!

On Monday, we played a round of golf at River Run Golf Course in Crossville.  River Run is a nice course and very challenging too.  We had so much fun playing golf with Warren & Joslyn and they helped the beginner golfer (me) with some good pointers.

Joslyn drove it clean over the water!  You go, girl!
The shortest hole was an island with a swinging bridge!
We had such a nice visit with Warren & Joslyn and before we knew it, they were having to head back home to Arkansas.  :(

After saying our good-byes on Wednesday, Chuck and I drove into Crossville to run a few errands and on the way back, we stopped at Miss Miller's Donut Stand.

Miss Miller's donuts are the biggest we have ever seen!  They are so big we had to split it!

On Friday, Chuck and I played golf at River Run again.

Chuck teeing off at the island hole.  He made it across!
It was another fun day of golf for both of us.  I told Chuck that I am so hooked on this game!  I'm not very good but I love it!

On Saturday, we decided to drive back to Nashville to spend the day with my mom.  We first stopped at several stores looking for a couple of zero gravity recliners to have for sitting outside.  We got rid of the two outdoor recliners we had when we first started full-timing because they were so heavy and took up too much room.  I found one for me at Dick's Sporting Goods and Chuck found one for him at Bass Pro Shops.  We set them up in my mom's garage to try them out.

We  had a nice lunch at Painturo's with my mom and an even nicer day hanging out with my mom all day Saturday.

On Father's Day, Chuck opened his Father's Day cards from the girls...

...and we enjoyed kicking back in our recliners and just enjoying the afternoon.

Later that afternoon, I talked Chuck into going up to Fairfield Glade to play a little pickleball on their outdoor courts.  We practiced a little bit and then played three good games.  When you're playing singles, you tend to run around the court a little more but we still had fun.

When we got back to the camper, it was time to kick back and just R-E-L-A-X.

Ahhh!  :)
We had finally decided that we would go back to Fall Creek Falls this year and decided to just stay here at Spring Lake until our reservations at Fall Creek begin on June 24th.  Unfortunately, that meant we had to change sites on Monday.  Our new site is nice too with a swing and view of lake but a whole lot more sun.

With the awning out, we could still enjoy kicking back in our recliners in a little shade.

On Wednesday, we played another round of golf at River Run.  Let's just say it was not our best day of golf but we enjoy the challenge of continuing to try to improve our game!

On Thursday, we went to Wal-mart to try to get stocked up on most of the groceries we would be needing for the next two weeks while we are at Fall Creek Falls.

Think we got enough???
We have had an enjoyable couple of weeks at Spring Lake and are now looking forward to another fun two weeks with the Gregory-Binkley clan at Fall Creek Falls.

Hot Week at Wanee and Then Back to Tennessee

During our second week at Wanee, the temperatures got progressively hotter.  We started playing our first 9 holes earlier and earlier in the morning and our last 9 holes later and later in the day.  We went to the Pig (Piggly Wiggly) a couple of more times for some groceries and to get a few pork steaks to put away in the freezer.  We have determined that the Pig in Ashburn GA and HEB in San Antonio are our two favorite grocery stores!  :)

When we were in San Antonio, we had noticed our next door neighbors, Patrick and Kimberly, cooking pizza on their grill and have wanted to try it ourselves.  We just so happened to have a griddle that would fit on our grill so we grilled our first pizza:

Other than overcooking the crust a little bit, it was very delicious!

I tweaked a muscle in my upper left back from all the fun golf we have been playing so the last couple of days I walked with Chuck as he played and then just pitched and putted at the greens.  These two weeks have been a great start for me learning how to play and have been good practice for both of us.  We played 9 or 10 rounds of golf over the last two weeks and all for free because we walked the course and were camped there.

We left Wanee on Wednesday and stopped in Stone Mountain for 3 nights before heading back to Tennessee.  When we were getting set up, the shade for our dining table window malfunctioned and started to pull out of the bottom trim when it got hung on a valance.  Most likely what happened is the shade was outside the valance when I was raising it and I didn't realize it and stop it in time and then it got hung on the valance.

Not only did the shade get pulled from the trim but the stops when it was raised and lowered weren't working.  As anyone with an RV can tell you, it seems like there is always something to be fixed.  Chuck worked on the trim first and then found the knobs to adjust the stops.  Of course, the little knobs are in the most difficult place to get to:  on the back and top of the roller which is under the valance.  After patiently and persistently adjusting and working on the shade, he finally got it fixed. He's the man!

On Friday afternoon,Crystal, Avery and Hannah came over and we cooled off in the pool for about 30 minutes.

On Friday evening, all the kids and grandkids came over for a "fancy" meal of hot dogs.  :)  Our five little granddaughters provided all the entertainment as they always do and for dessert we had fruit popsicles.

They showed us all the many ways to eat a popsicle:

With a bowl!
Sitting on a picnic blanket!
Laying down!

The best way:  with all your cousins!
We left Stone Mountain on Saturday morning and managed to miss all the rain that was predicted until we disconnected at the Wal-Mart in Manchester.  Fortunately, the rain stopped when we were getting set up in our site at the Manchester KOA.

After getting set up and eating some lunch, we rode back to Wal-Mart to pick up a few groceries.  They had signs on the door welcoming 90,000+ fans expected to come to the annual 4-day Bonnaroo Music Festival that begins on Thursday.

They also had lots and lots of beer.  I felt like we were back at Daytona.  :)

Later that evening, I took a short walk around the campground.  I stopped and talked with the couple sitting outside their nice Essex.  The man had fallen off his ladder earlier in the afternoon and broken his arm.  We talked about how quickly accidents can happen and even when you think you are being so careful.  He's not able to drive and his wife doesn't drive the motorhome either so a friend of theirs is flying down to drive their motorhome back home to Wisconsin where he will have surgery on his arm.  Fortunately, he's not in a lot of pain so long as he doesn't move his arm.

A little family of ducks came waddling by while we were talking.

They were so cute and had fun playing in the puddles just like some other kids we know.  :)

We leave for Nashville tomorrow going straight to Cullum & Maxey to get our slide-out topper awning replaced.  It will be nice getting our slide-out out again.  :)
