As soon as they got there Thursday afternoon, we walked over to the cul-de-sac across from our campsite where everyone was staying so they could meet Avery and Hannah. The last time Crystal and Grant joined us at Fall Creek Falls was before the girls were born.
The temperatures had gotten cooler by Thursday but we started getting scattered thunderstorms too. When it wasn't raining, we would take the girls over to the cul-de-sac so they could play without having to watch for cars as much.
Hannah is almost too big for big sister Avery to hold her in her lap! :)
Avery pedaled her bike around the cul-de-sac a few times but discovered she liked riding Joah's bicycle even more! Thanks Joah for sharing your bike!
Hannah, on the other hand, LOVED riding Avery's "bike." She can't reach the pedals yet so her MiMa pushed around and around and around the cul-de-sac.
Triple-decker pic on a double-decker trike! :) |
And Chuck borrowed Jenny and Justin's bike and bike trailer to take Avery and Hannah for a ride which they loved.
The cul-de-sac is perfect for all the little kids and big kids to ride their bikes and riding toys as well as play some cornhole! :) (Click HERE if you can't open the video.)
Since the pool at Fall Creek Falls is closed for repairs this summer, Avery and Hannah swam at the outdoor pool at our site (which also served as a bathtub for baths in the evenings). :)
On the morning of the 4th of July, the girls got all dressed up and ready for the 4th of July parade.
In fact, everyone got dressed up for the 4th of July!
Everyone began to get ready for the big 4th of July parade through the campground.
General Donald inspected his troops to makes sure they were ready...
...and then made sure his own water blaster was primed and ready.
While everyone else was getting soaked from the annual water gun fights and water balloons of the parade through the campground, Avery and I stayed dry by watching the parade out the window of the motorhome. And soaked is what they got! :)
After the parade, we walked over to the big field where the annual field games of egg toss and three-legged races normally occur but as we were walking, the bottom fell out and the rain began to pour. The rain didn't keep Avery and Crystal from going to the swings.
"We're swinging in the rain. Just swinging in the rain!" |
By the time we finished our cake, the rain had stopped and Hannah was ready to swing now!
After we walked back to the campsite and it was time for 2 little girls to take a much needed nap. But after naps, the sun came out and we took turns tracing each other with chalk.
After supper, we had homemade chocolate ice cream that was yummy good but then it started to rain again so we went back to the motorhome and taught Crystal and Grant how to play pinochle after the girls went to sleep.
What a great two weeks at Fall Creek Falls! I think Anna counted that there had been 46 of us there this year at Fall Creek Falls. The family just keeps getting bigger and so does the fun! :)
