Just Chillin' at Themeworld

We woke up to a cooler morning on Thursday.  We walked around the campground three times after breakfast and then decided to go to Lazy Days and Parkesdale that afternoon.  We spent a couple of hours at Lazy Days looking at some of the new RVs.  Their inventory seemed to be down to me and there were a lot of people looking around which I guess is a good sign for the RV industry and for Lazy Days.  In the end, we came to the same conclusion we always do:  we like our RV just fine.

After leaving Lazy Days, we stopped at Parkesdale Farm Market.  They were crowded as usual but the line moved very fast.  You can have your strawberries any way you want them at Parkesdale.

Almost as soon as the line enters the building, a girl from behind the screen shouts at you and asks you what you want.

They have quite a strawberry shortcake assembly line going on behind the screen.

\
Because we know how big they are, we split a #2 -- strawberry shortcake with ice cream and topped with whip cream.  And because of my cold, we tried to stay on each other's side of the bowl until the end when I finished it off.  :)  We also got a strawberry milkshake to take home and put in the freezer for dessert later.

For dinner that evening, I had a turkey burger and Chuck had a salmon burger cooked on our new Cuisinart Griddler.  They probably weren't as good as cooking them on a grill outside but they weren't bad.  And with the removable plates, the cleanup was easy-peasy.

On Friday morning, we Facetimed with Tafanie and the girls which is always entertaining.  :)  Then, we drove up to Clerbrook Golf & RV Park to check it out as a possible campground to stay at in the future.  It was a nice campground and the golf is inexpensive.  Might be a future possibility.

It started raining Friday evening and rained all day Saturday.  Even though it was raining, we decided to go to Costco and Wal-mart to get some groceries before going to Pine Island tomorrow.  I also had a $9.40 coupon at Sports Authority that was about to run out which I used to buy some new tennis shoes. That evening, we got caught up on laundry and I cut Chuck's hair.

By Sunday morning, the rain had stopped and the weather forecast for the next 10 days at Pine Island looks very promising!  We got everything disconnected and were headed out of Themeworld by 9 am.  Our drive to Pine Island was non-eventful except for going out an exit at the truck stop that took us right when we needed to go left and then having to find a place to turn around to go in the right direction.

We arrived at Pine Island around 12:30.  Ken and Bonnie were already here and Neil and Nancy were just backing in.  We were all so glad to see each other and spent a few minutes chatting before getting back to getting set up.  We met up again at the pool and enjoyed talking for another hour or so.  Such good friends!  We are so looking forward to the next two weeks with them.  :)

Later that evening, Ken and Bonnie came over and we played SkipBo and Pinochle.  The men won at SkipBo and the women came from behind to beat the men at Pinochle.  We all went to bed with winners!  :)

On the road again!

We left Stone Mountain on Saturday after enjoying breakfast with the Robinsons.  It felt good to be on the road again.  It felt so good that we drove all the way to Alliance Coach in Wildwood, Florida, where we were scheduled for annual maintenance on our motorhome on Monday.  We enjoyed relaxing on Sunday and even watched the Daytona 500.

We went over with our service advisor at Alliance Coach everything we wanted to be serviced on Monday morning and by Monday evening, all the service work on the engine, transmission, chassis and generator had been completed.  The only thing left to be done was fixing the floor on the rear driver's side slide-out.  Thankfully, they will be able to fix this floor by just installing a metal strip and extra caulking and not have to completely replace the floor like they had to do on the front slide-out last fall.

On Monday evening, we decided to go to Olive Garden for their salad and to split a spaghetti dinner before going to Wal-mart to get some groceries.  When we left Olive Garden, we noticed this cute little Volkswagen Beetle decorated to look like a mouse...ears, tail and all.

On Tuesday, the service tech installed the metal strips under the rear D/S slide-out and applied new caulking but we had to wait until Wednesday to leave to allow enough time for the caulking to cure out.  On Wednesday morning, we settled up with Alliance and then decided to get the motorhome washed by a RV wash & wax company on site.  It really needed it after sitting under a tree (and bird poop) in San Antonio for over a month plus all the weather.  By 11 am, we had the car hooked up and were ready to go.

We talked about where to go and decided to go back to Themeworld RV Resort where we have gone the past three years in Davenport, Florida.  That gets us a little closer to Pine Island where we are scheduled to be on Sunday plus we might just take a trip to Parkesdale Farmers Market for some strawberry shortcake.  :)  We got site #191 which is probably one of the best sites we have ever gotten here because it is level and has a little more room between the sites.

After we got all set up, we decided to go to Sonny's for lupper.  We had not had Sonny's since we were in Pensacola and it tasted pretty good.  We even tried their redneck eggrolls which were o.k. but I think we will stick with the pulled pork sandwiches.

I have been fighting a cold ever since we left Atlanta.  I don't really feel all that bad.  I just have to blow my nose a lot (which makes me look like Rudolph) and a little bit of a cough at night.  Mainly, it's just annoying.  The weather was so nice that I just had to get out and enjoy it despite my cold. Chuck and I walked around the campground a couple of times...

...and enjoyed a nice sunset.

The weather was so nice that we sat outside for a little while after we got back to the camper to watch the remaining colors of the sunset...

and look up at...

...the moon and the emerging night sky.

I'm always amazed by how the camera can bring up the craters on the moon.

I think Themeworld will be a nice place to call home for a few days and at Passport America rates, that makes it even nicer.  :)
