For 8 days we have been selling, consigning, moving or
giving away everything we thought we would not need. And this morning we turned over the keys to
the new homeowners. Thankfully, they are
as excited about moving in as we are about moving out!
The reality of our not owning a “sticks and bricks”
(S&B) did not hit me until when I left work today. I guess because we have been so busy with
closing on the house, getting rid of all our stuff, furniture disappearing
every day until all that was left was a mattress for us to sleep on,
disconnecting all the utilities…for good, to finally turning over the keys that
it just did not sink in. Not even
driving to work this morning with the towing equipment rattling in the back of
the CRV and the bikes on the back of the car made me feel houseless. But tonight, when I was driving to my mom’s,
our temporary home while the RV is being serviced, it hit me: we are houseless and it’s wonderful!!! No electric bill, no water bill, no
insurance, no property taxes, no telephone bills (landline), no painting, no
grass-cutting, no weeding…. AWESOME!!
Thanks to everyone who has helped us: Mom, who is letting us stay with her until
the RV is ready and is graciously allowing us to store the things we either
could not part with or thought we might need later at her home. Crystal and Grant, who spent Christmas weekend
with us helping us move, sort, or box most of our stuff. Our realtor who patiently
listed and marketed our house for over 18 months and who made closing a
breeze. And everyone else who has been
praying for us to make the right decisions and all those who accepted the
giveaways forced upon them! Thank you!!
