I kept an eye on the weather radar while Chuck was driving and we hit our first rain just south of Montgomery. Fortunately, we were crossing through the narrowest part of the storm. We did hit some heavy rain...
...but by continuing to carefully drive through it...
...we were totally out of the rain and the storms by the time we reached Mobile. We continued heading west on I-10 across Mississippi and into Louisiana. The only major traffic we ran into was crossing the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge.
Baton Rouge |
We reached Frog City RV Park around 5:45 and actually got the same site we had last April. Unfortunately, Ken and Bonnie weren't next to us this time. :(
After a good night's rest, we headed for San Antonio a little after 7 am. As we were traveling west on I-10, we noticed this unusual cloud formation.
It looked like a big hole in the clouds with a whirlwind forming below it to suck up what was traveling below. Fortunately, it just looked that way and was NOT the beginnings of a tornado.
and by 2:30 we were pulling into Traveler's World RV Park in San Antonio, our home for the next month.
Warren and Joslyn greeted us as soon as we were checking in and we soon saw Terry and Gloria and Tim and Nancy. After visiting for a while, we all went to dinner at Mad Mack's and had some delicious hamburgers. Chuck played golf in the Wednesday Scramble and Wednesday evening we rested and watched some bowl games.
On New Year's Eve, we watched more bowl games and then headed to the hall for another very fun New Year's Eve party that evening.
Happy New Year 2016!! |
Normally, we are on the move at least every couple of weeks so it's been kind of nice to stay put for a month. And we have enjoyed getting to spend time with our friends here at Traveler's World.
I wish we would have had the sight beside you at Frog City. That brings back such wonderful memories and it was only the very beginning! Looks like you are having a great time in San Antonio. It is such a nice CG and great location. Looking forward to seeing you in about 3 weeks.
