After getting set up, we walked around the campground to see if Ken & Bonnie and Neil & Nancy had arrived yet. We found Ken & Bonnie's motorhome first and Neil & Nancy happened to be there too so we were able to get reacquainted with everyone all at once. Neil & Nancy invited everyone over for appetizers later and we had a very nice evening getting caught up on each others' lives over the past year.
Even though it was raining Friday morning, Ken & Bonnie knocked on our door early to see if we were ready to get our 10,000 steps in and then we all walked to over to Neil & Nancy's to see if they wanted to join us. So we all put on our rain jackets and headed out on our walk. Are we dedicated or what?
We walked into a new nearby development that has been here for several years because Ken and Bonnie had seen some eagles here previously. It looks like it will be very nice but it only has 2 houses in it.
The guys are discussing something really important here. (Not!) :)
As we were walking out of the subdivision, we heard and saw the eagles and their nest. Wish I would have had my good camera!
The sun finally came out Friday afternoon. Yippee! We rode our bikes with Ken & Bonnie down to Saint James City looking for a fish market that Ken had been told about where we could buy fresh seafood. We found the market and a guy filleting a fish right off the dock.
The pelicans were hoping for a free lunch!
Sunday was a beautiful sunshiny day. On Sunday afternoon, we rode to the other end of Pine Island and walked out to the dock at Capt'n Con's Fish House in Bokeelia.
We could see several people catching fish at the end of the dock. The pelicans at the north end of the island were hoping for a free lunch too!
It was just an absolutely beautiful day! (Sorry, everyone north suffering this harsh winter! I don't mean to rub it in.) :)
The bike ride back to the campground was more difficult because we were riding into the wind most of the way. We saw these cute little ducks scampering away from the bike trail.
On Sunday evening, Ken and Bonnie invited Neil & Nancy and us over to watch the Super Bowl.
Ken grilled some shrimp that we had gone in together and bought at Andy's Seafood in Matlacha. The shrimp were big and delicious!
Although the game didn't turn out as we had hoped, the friends, food and fun were fantastic!
Monday morning, the fog was lifting has Chuck and I got an early start getting our 10,000 steps in.
After doing some cleaning around the camper, we enjoyed the pool for a couple of hours with Neil and Nancy that afternoon. Ken and Bonnie came over to play Skip-Bo Monday night. The guys won this round of Skip-Bo but we're not finished yet. :)
