Another Fun Day at the Beach

After another good night's sleep, we were ready to head to the beach Sunday morning.  Avery, Crystal and I went for a short walk on the beach...

...while Pa and Hannah took a little mid-morning nap.  :)

After a few days at the beach, Avery really liked the water now...particularly on top of her dad's shoulders!  :)

Then it was time to make sand castles.

Pa kept an eye on Hannah patting her back to sleep...

...and then walked with Avery back to the water one last time.

We headed back to the camper for lunch and Crystal asked me to take a picture of Avery and Hannah in their "look-alike" outfits.  Hannah wasn't too happy about that at first...

...but a few seconds later she was all smiles.

Later that afternoon, Avery enjoyed her own private pool...

...right outside the camper.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner of both grilled shrimp and boiled shrimp at the camper.  After putting the girls to bed, we started watching UT's first football game of the year against Utah State that we had recorded and were VERY pleased with the 38 to 7 win.  GO VOLS!!!!

We had four wonderfully busy and fun days with Crystal, Grant, Avery, and Hannah.  I think they had fun too!

Fun Times Inside Too!

Everyone slept great and didn't get up until nearly 8 am when it was time for Hannah's first bottle of the day.  After we got up, Crystal and Grant noticed that Avery had an eye infection and decided to take her to a walk-in clinic as soon as we could.  In this little town of Carrabelle, we found a clinic one mile down the road and got an appointment for 10:30 Friday morning.

We decided to eat out for breakfast at 2 Als Cafe which is also very close to the campground.  As soon as we were finished with breakfast, Crystal and I took Avery to the doctor while Grant, Chuck and Hannah went back to the motorhome.  After the doctor examined Avery's eye, he said he thought she had pink-eye (which is very contagious) and prescribed some medicine for her.  We then went to the one pharmacy in town to pick up her prescription.  Fortunately, we were careful and none of us contracted the eye infection from Avery.

After we got back to the camper, Avery laid down for a nap while we played some cards.  Hannah wasn't quite ready for her nap...

 so she just watched...

...and showed us how she can balance a ball on her toes!  :)

Then she helped Pa play SkipBo.  :)

Of course, she loves getting kisses from her mommy!

For dinner, Chuck grilled pork steaks which were delicious!  This was Crystal and Grant's first time to have grilled pork steaks and they liked them too.  After dinner, the girls played a little bit longer before bedtime.

Avery thought Hannah would really look cool wearing some beads.  :)

With the girls asleep by 8 pm again, we played a game of SkipBo and Wits 'n Wagers and were asleep ourselves by 10:30 again.

On Saturday morning, Crystal and Grant took Avery to the beach for a couple of hours while Chuck and I stayed at the camper and played with Hannah.  Later that afternoon, we drove to Apalachicola for a delicious seafood dinner at Papa Joe's Oyster Bar & Grill. After dinner, we walked to the Old Time Soda Fountain in downtown Apalachicola.  Chuck had a root beer float and Crystal and I had a dip of ice cream. We did the Avery taste test and she liked my chocolate peanut butter ice cream better than Crystal's chocolate mint ice cream.  :)

After we got back to the motorhome, Avery and I played a little bit seeing how many stickers we can put on MiMa's arm...

...and coloring in her coloring book a little while too.

We also made a paper hat for Hannah.  :)

Again, the girls were asleep by around 8 and we played some cards while we watched a little SEC football.  We are SO GLAD that college football season has finally arrived!!!

Day at the Beach and the Pool

After a quick breakfast of some bacon and eggs, we packed up all the beach gear and walked across the street to the beach.

The first thing we had to do at the beach was get the umbrella and beach quilt set up so Hannah could take her first nap on the beach!

MiMa kept an eye on her in case she needed some rockin' but she was asleep in just a few minutes.

Meanwhile, Avery and her mommy, daddy and Pa were checking out her new beach toys!

I don't know who was having more fun with toys.  Avery or us?

Avery played with Pa for a little while...

and then decided to explore the beach a little more.  That's one of the really great things about a beach that is not very crowded:  lots of room for little curious girls to run and explore!

She liked the sand dunes!

Avery was a little cautious about the water so I picked her up...

and showed her how much fun it is!

Then, it was mommy's turn to swing Avery around.

After about an hour at the beach, Hannah started waking up and it was time to head back to the camper for lunch and naps!  While the girls were down for naps, the adults closed our eyes for a little bit too.  :)

After nap time, it was time to check out the campground pool.  When Avery put on her cover-up, we realized that she and Minnie were dressed alike!

The campground pool is very nice with lots of lounge chairs around it.  Unfortunately, the water was not very cool so the pool was not very refreshing.

But Hannah made herself comfortable in the shade in a lounge chair.  :)

After about an hour, we headed back to the camper where Grant prepared his delicious hamburgers for grilling.  We had hamburgers, corn-on-the cob, and baked beans for dinner.  Mmm Mmm.

Since we don't have a tub in the motorhome, we got a small inflatable wading pool for Crystal and Grant to give Avery a bath outside which she loved!  By 8:15 the girls were asleep, and the adults played a game of Skip-Bo and 7-Up.  But by 10:30, we were all asleep and dreaming about our fun day at the beach!  :)

Waiting on the Robinsons

On Wednesday morning, we decided to get our walk in by first walking around the campground and then walking down the sidewalk in front of the campground.  As we walked west along Hwy 98, the sidewalk ended and a bike trail began.

The bike trail ended about a mile west at the entrance to the Crooked River Lighthouse.  We didn't even know Carrabelle had a lighthouse.  It is not located right on the beach but back in the woods about 250 yards from the beach.

The lighthouse was built in 1895 and was operational for 100 years until 1995 when it was decommissioned.  However, in 1999, the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association was formed to restore, preserve and open the lighthouse to the public.  By 2009, the lighthouse was re-opened and serves as an aid to navigation once again.

After walking around the lighthouse, we headed back to the campground.  Looks like it's going to be a hot sunny day.

Since Crystal, Grant and their girls were driving down after work today and staying with us through the Labor Day weekend, I wanted to get caught up on our laundry. Normally, I do our laundry with our Splendide washer/dryer on board but I knew I could get it done much faster at the campground's laundry.  The laundry was clean and very inexpensive at only $1.25 per wash and $1.25 per dry and I had it all done in about 1 1/2 hours.  :)

Later Tuesday evening, Chuck and I walked over to the beach to check it out.

As I was walking around the beach, I stopped and took a picture of what I thought was a jellyfish thinking we will really have to watch out for jellyfish when Avery is walking on the beach. When I looked at the picture later on my computer, I noticed a small triangle recycle symbol and realized I had taken a picture of the bottom of a clear 2 liter bottle and not a jellyfish.  :)

The sun was starting to set so we headed back to the camper.

Crystal, Grant, Avery and Hannah safely arrived about 1:30 am.  We had the two pac-n-plays and the sofa bed ready so they could go straight to sleep as soon as they got here.  But we were all so excited, I don't think any of us got much sleep that night!

Arrival at Carrabelle

We slept in a little late this morning and then headed south to Carrabelle, Florida.  Because our destination was basically due south of Ashburn, Georgia, we did not head down I-75.  Instead, we took GA Hwy 112, then Hwy 33 at Sylvester, and then Hwy 319 all the way south to Hwy 98 along the gulf coast of Florida.

It was a pleasant drive through the Georgia countryside...

and through some small Georgia towns like Sylvester which had a beautiful courthouse.

The roads were very good and the traffic light.  We enjoyed seeing the fields of peanuts and cotton growing all across the Georgia countryside.

We could tell when we were getting closer to Florida because the Spanish moss was hanging thick on the trees.

When we arrived at Carrabelle Beach RV Resort, we pulled into our site #55.

The campground is very nice with concrete pads, full hookups, and a swimming pool.  Across the street from the campground is access to the beach.

For dinner, Chuck fired up the grill and cooked us some of those pork steaks we had bought at the Piggly Wiggly in Ashburn.

He cooked them just right!  We each had a pork steak, salad, and split a baked potato.

They must have been good because this was all that was left!  :)

After dinner, we sat outside and just relaxed for a little while longer.

Even though the weather was warm, there was a nice breeze and so far.....no no-see-ums!  Hope that holds true for the rest of the week!
